Dr. Barbara Below, PHD on Caring: A One Day Seminar
Barbara is a Clinical Psychologist with more than 40 years of teaching and clinical experience. She has worked as a psychologist in settings as diverse as psychiatric hospitals, private practice, and in a Veterans Administration hospital. Now retired, as a member of the teaching faculty of the Odiyan Retreat Center in Northern California, she has worked under the direction of Rinpoche in developing the curriculum and classes for this course. She is one of the editors of the book, ‘Caring’ . Barbara resides much of the year at the Odiyan Retreat Center in Northern California, and travels in the United States offering seminars on ‘Caring.’
During the one-day seminar, we will explore the topic of caring and how it has importance for our lives, for the global environment, for our country and for the world’s present challenging situation. This seminar offers participants the opportunity to move from a basic understanding of the importance of caring and the development of tools and ‘qualities of caring’ towards pursuing a path of self-care and compassion. Participants will engage in several experiential exploration exercises that increase awareness of their own need for care while they learn how to be more caring in their daily lives.
